SCOPE
"Molecular Ensemble" means a highly organized and functional molecular system, each component of which is joined to each other by a variety of weak non-covalent interactions. Molecules interact with one another through weak intra- and inter-molecular interactions. These intra- and inter-molecular non-covalent interactions play crucial roles in determining the function of the molecular assembly.
Our grand challenge is to understand properties and functions of the molecular assembly in terms of the non-covalent interactions, and create highly organized and functionalized molecular systems. Our strategy is based on the concepts, "the electron is the lead of materials science", and "structure and spectroscopy tell us electronic state, and the electronic state explains properties and functions". Our research group is based on collaboration of physics, chemistry, and biology.
In this symposium, we will demonstrate newest research topics of the molecular systems and discuss possibilities of research collaborations.
